Hit Parade: Alers Pops 5 Hits Friday, May 26th , 2062 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Vinny Alers -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Cobb Field and paced the 19-9 Ambition win over the Billings Mustangs. After his dynamite batting performance, the Indianapolis center fielder told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. Vinny Alers hit a three-run double in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
