Hit Parade: Rawls Gets Cycle
Sunday, April 23rd , 2062
Getting 4 hits in a game is no easy feat, but doing it to hit for the cycle is even more rare.
Bobby Rawls of the Tulane Green Wave pulled it off at Dingoes Ballpark, going 4-for-5 against the TCU Horned Frogs. His batting escapades sparked the Green Wave to a win, 18-2.
Rawls tallied 4 runs and drove in 5 during the game. Hitting for the cycle is particularly rare because of the different skills required - enough power for a home run, enough speed for a triple and enough patience at the plate to see at least four hittable balls.
"It just happened," Rawls said to reporters after the win. "Must have been fate or something, I wasn't expecting it. Heck, I wasn't even really trying for it."
Bobby Rawls grounded out in the 1st, hit a three-run triple in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, walked in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Brian Greene in the 9th.
This season, Rawls is hitting at a .397 pace with 12 home runs, 41 RBIs and has scored 29 times.
