5-for-6 Day for Cordero
Thursday, April 6th , 2062
It was a sensational day at the plate for Texas Longhorns first baseman Juan Cordero, but a tough one for the team, as the Longhorns dropped the contest, 20-14, to the Houston Cougars.
Even with the loss, Cordero was pure misery for the Houston pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked after going 5-for-6 in an explosive display of hitting.
"It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win," said Cordero, who is the 19-year old first baseman .
"Cordero really hit the ball hard and when you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage," Cougars manager Derrick Cable told BNN reporters after the game. "I feel like we threw him some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Juan Cordero singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Kory Sanders in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.
This season, Cordero has delivered 24 hits in 63 at-bats for a .381 average with 10 home runs. He is getting on base at a .506 clip and his totals also include 32 RBIs and 21 runs scored. This year Cordero has played in 17 games.
