Pais King of the Hill, No-Hits Pelicans
Sunday, September 2nd , 2063
In a dominant outing, Diego Pais of the Chippewa River Chiefs totally silenced the bats of the St. Petersburg Pelicans, finishing with a no-hitter.
In the 17-0 victory, Pais faced only 35 batters, surrendered no hits, had 10 strikeouts and 6 walks.
"Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," Chippewa manager Pang Yip said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any."
Commenting on the defeat, losing manager Gilbert Drader told reporters in the clubhouse that he had a "simple" analysis of the game.
"The River Chiefs had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, Pais pitched a heck of a ballgame."
Checking out his stats for the season, Pais has racked up 4 wins and 14 losses in 23 starts, posted a 8.91 ERA, and struck out 106 batters in 97 innings.
