Coal Miners Pitching Ravaged by Coppage
Wednesday, May 7th , 2064
Peoria second baseman Mark Coppage had a day to remember, 5-for-8 against the Antioch Coal Miners at The Coal Mine as the Caterpillars picked up a win, 9-7.
"He was patient up there," Peoria skipper Leonard Lee told the press after the game. "I like the way he waited for his pitch and wasn't overly aggressive. Coppage has a tendency to chase bad balls sometimes."
Mark Coppage hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Tony Facio in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Ken Blais in the 7th, flied out in the 9th, flied out in the 12th, doubled in the 14th and struck out in the 16th.
Posting a .352 batting average to date, Coppage has 8 home runs and 33 RBIs.
