Super Swinger -- Crofts Slams 5 Hits
Sunday, May 28th , 2062
Today at Coca Cola Stadium, Chris Crofts put on an impressive display.
The Waimea Wind catcher tagged Baton Rouge pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the Baton Rouge Outlaws by the score of 11-5.
"The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Crofts said. "5-for-5 ain't bad in any league."
Despite the terrific performance, the Wind manager was unwilling to offer the catcher much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses.
"Chris told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Orlando González said.
Chris Crofts hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Bill Purcell in the 9th.
This season, Crofts has banged out 29 hits in 82 at-bats for a .354 average with 8 home runs. He is getting on base at a .459 pace and his totals also include 19 RBIs and 20 runs scored.
