They failed to score a single run against him, losing, 8-0. Huntington Station managed only 4 hits off Shackleton, who had 8 strikeouts. The extraordinarily popular Shackleton got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.
