Montgomery Sizzles -- Smokes Pharaohs for 5 Hits
Wednesday, May 17th , 2062
It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Steve Montgomery of the El Paso Mavericks. Montgomery went on a tear at The Pyramid and cracked hit after hit off Cairo pitching. When the dust settled on the diamond, the 23-year-old catcher had a career 5-for-5 day and something he will long remember.
"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but I don't think I'll tell them we lost," he joked in the BNN postgame interview.
Despite Montgomery's personal accolades, the Cairo Pharaohs walked off the field with the 9-7 win.
Steve Montgomery doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Bryan Floravanti in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
For the season, Montgomery is batting .265 with 26 hits and 5 home runs. He has scored 10 times and batted in 17.
