Golden Bears Walk Off with Win

The Montreal Cardinals got a superb performance from pitcher Bill Rhodes. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Billings West. The Golden Bears won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, Rhodes was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs. The Golden Bears raised their record to 15-20.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the ninth, with the game tied, Ben Abbey was at the plate when Billings West scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Golden Bears to go in front, 3-2.
Abbey said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
