Hawaii right fielder Aaron Gross had a 3-RBI game, which helped his team beat the El Paso Mavericks, 10-8. Tom Mitcham earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. The Honu now have a record of 28-32 with the win over El Paso.

Had Ed Knight not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Knight hit a 2-run single. That made the score 10-8, in favor of the Honu.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Knight, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
