River Bandits Need Extra Innings to Top Bandits, 8-5
|
The San Antonio River Bandits overcame a good performance by Brownsville center fielder Yasumitsu Watanabe to knock off Brownsville, 8-5, in 10 innings at Bandits Grove. Watanabe was 3-5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. The win was credited to Jerry Hartley in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Danny Alpizar took the loss. The win lifted the San Antonio record to 67-51.
Ted McCoy was 1 for 4 with a walk, while scoring 2 runs for San Antonio. The 18-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Danny Alpizar. It was his 38th RBI of the season.
"Exciting game to play in," said McCoy. "Getting the win makes it even better."
