Sasquatch Come Up Short at Walnut Creek, 4-3
|
The Walnut Creek Warriors scored a tight, 4-3 win versus the Seattle Sasquatch at Castlerock Field. Walnut Creek pitcher David Godinez held his own in the contest. Godinez, the winner, moves to 6-5. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up no walks. Darren Rogers picked up the save, his 10th.
Dylan Sullivan had a big 2-run double for the Warriors in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Walnut Creek leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a forkball from 35-year old left-handed pitcher Leo Kirk and swatted a double to center. It was his 15th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Warriors ahead, 4-0.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Seattle skipper Alim bin Umar.
At 29-24, the Warriors claim second place in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division.
