Floundering Birdwings Lose 7th Straight
|
Brisbane beat Hazleton at Road Warriors Field, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to first baseman Kevin Pope. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs. Oliver Price sewed up the save, his 18th. The losing skid has reached 7 games for Hazleton.
Brisbane used the timely hitting of Santos Betancourt to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bush Wackers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We're going through a bad spell," said Hazleton manager Matt Lindsley.
