Pelicans Thrill Fans with 6-5 Win

The St. Petersburg Pelicans handed the Niagara Falls Barrels a loss at Billy Mathews Field. The final score was 6-5. Patrick Branum made the highlight reel for St. Petersburg. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 3 runs and drove in 2. He also added 2 bases on balls. Jacob Spitler, now 3-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. Niagara Falls has now lost 6 straight.
The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With St. Petersburg trailing 5-4, Branum jumped on a cutter from fireballing 6' 11" right-hander Jose Rodriguez and hit a 2-run home run to right. With one swing, the Pelicans had a walk-off win.
"No one can call baseball boring," said Pelicans manager Gilbert Drader. "Not after a game like that."
