Floundering Vikings Lose 6th Straight
The Nichols Gnats topped the Victoria Vikings, 10-7, with youngster Brian Carr playing a key role. Carr was 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 6 for the Gnats in the win. The win went to Dustin Phillips in relief, making him now 6-3. Mike Fields took the loss for Victoria. Nichols is now 47-44, Victoria 42-49.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Carr hit a fastball from Mike Fields for a 3-run home run. The Gnats, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Victoria manager Jim Edwards.
