Panthers Pull Out Late Win, 3-2
|
Both offenses were relatively subdued at Franklin Mountains Field. Fortunately for the Charleston Panthers, though, Jeff Dusenbery was able to deliver in the clutch. He was 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, to lead his team past the Baltimore Magicians, 3-2. The 5th-place Panthers are now 44-36, the Magicians 45-36.
Nick Pereda drove in one run for Charleston. The 19-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Wu-shiun Kim. It was his 3rd RBI of the season.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Baltimore manager Jonathan Kelly. "The effort was great."
