Panthers Bridle Knights, 4-2
|
The Charleston Panthers bested the Kingwood Knights, 4-2, at Franklin Mountains Field. Rich Ruano was named player of the game. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Nick Dean, who threw 86 pitches over 5 innings. The left-hander was charged with 2 runs on 8 hits. Tyler Jackson, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.
Adam Evans had a big run-scoring single for the Panthers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Charleston leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from Jesus Diaz and stroked the single to right. It was his 20th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Panthers ahead, 3-1.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Ruano.
Even with the win, the Panthers have a dismal 32-61 record.
