Birdwings Rally to Win
|
The Hazleton Birdwings spoiled a good performance by Kingwood second baseman Kevin DiMaio, bumping off Kingwood, 3-2, at Stable Park. DiMaio went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Alejandro Rubio, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-6. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3 innings. The 5th-place Birdwings have won 4 in a row.
Hazleton used the timely hitting of Adan Munoz to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Birdwings on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Every loss hurts," said Kingwood manager Kazuki Yamamoto. "But this was a tough one."
