Chippewa got a strong outing from Michael Melis as the River Chiefs defeated the Houston Sting, 8-2, at The Reservation. The second-place River Chiefs hiked their record to 47-33.

Melis pitched a complete game for Chippewa. The 24-year-old left-hander was charged with 2 runs on 6 hits. He struck out 8 during his 107-pitch performance.

"It's nice to get the results when you're feeling good and throwing the ball well," said Melis after the game.
