The Nichols Gnats handed the Victoria Vikings a 6-2 defeat at The drakkar. Left Fielder Gene Andrews starred for Nichols. He was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. The Gnats win now puts them at 30-31.

There was more than one reason the Gnats beat the Vikings, but Andrews's big at-bat in the top of the third was an important factor. He staked his team to a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.

"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Andrews told the Nichols Bulletin. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
