Gnats Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Scorpions
The Gnats faced a stiff challenge from Sonoma pitcher Brian Peek, but persevered to claim a win at Arnold Field. The final score was 7-6. Peek went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Connor Cobb earned the save for Nichols, his 1st of the year. Nichols, at 41-28, occupies second place in the TMLA Earl Weaver Division.

The Scorpions had been locked in a 6-6 tie with the Gnats going into the top of the ninth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old left fielder Takahiro Nakano came to the plate. Nakano hit a run-scoring single on a 1-0 fastball from Sonoma hurler Satoshi Kawaguchi. It was Nakano's 12th hit of the year.

"We found a way to get it done," Nakano said.
