Tony Giron was the difference-maker for the Nichols Gnats in what turned into a shootout with the New Orleans Jedi Knights. Giron earned the player of the game award after going 2-for-4 in the 11-9 Gnats win. The Gnats sit in second place in the TMLA Earl Weaver Division with a record of 39-26.

With Nichols leading 9-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Giron came up to bat against New Orleans pitcher Max Howard. Giron hit a cutter to left for a 2-run double. His 9th double of the season put the Gnats on top, 11-1.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Giron said.
