Thrilling Victory Pushes Birdwings Win Streak to 5
The San Angelo Mustangs could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Juan Huerta into a win. Instead, the Hazleton Birdwings prevailed, 6-4. Huerta threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball. Steve Gilligan, who is tied for 3rd in the RHA in complete games with 1, was the winner. He's now 3-2. The loser was Melvin Montemayor. Tony Sarabia earned the save for Hazleton.

Miguel Villarreal provided a timely hit. The Hazleton center fielder delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Birdwings on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.

In postgame comments to the Hazleton Bulletin, Villarreal said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

Hazleton, at 25-31, sits in 5th place in the RCL HA Tommy Lasorda Division.
