Higgins Excels, But Apples Win
At BLM Stadium, the Eugene Emeralds and Carmel Apples were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Eugene Emeralds could not turn a fine performance from third baseman Kyle Higgins into a win. Instead, the Carmel Apples prevailed, 11-5. Higgins hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Kyle Ott earned the save for Carmel, his 1st.

Ryan Schneck hit a 2-run double off Tamaichi Ri in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Apples in front, 7-5. In addition to the double, Schneck had 2 singles, while going 3 for 5.

"Winning is seldom easy in this league," said Schneck.

The Apples move to 29-17 with the win, while the Emeralds drop to 17-28.
