Earthquakes Lose By a Run at Bighorn
The Bighorn Bison besoiled an otherwise fine performance by San Francisco left fielder Junior Leeney by beating the Earthquakes, 9-8, at Ram Brewery Ballpark. Leeney hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Bighorn reliever Nick Merritt was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Greg Hobson. Andy Johnson saved it for Bighorn.

Bighorn center fielder Tom Clingan helped the Bison go up, 6-5, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Clingan hit a run-scoring single off San Francisco pitcher Greg Hobson.

"We came out with clear minds and swung the bats well," said Bighorn manager Carlos Esparza.

The second-place Bison go to 29-25.
