Downs Helps River Bandits Run Win Streak to 3
|
The San Antonio River Bandits stopped the Kingwood Knights, 8-0, at Stable Park. The River Bandits got a big game from Matt Downs, who was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Alex Nuncio got credit for the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 6 innings. Jose Maldonado, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.
San Antonio designated hitter Vicente Gallegos contributed to the cause with a double in the top of the first. For the game, Gallegos went 1 for 4 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 times.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Gallegos.
The Knights drop to 13-15 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2044 season.
