The Victoria Vikings topped the San Angelo Mustangs, 4-1, in TML A action at Heartland Kettlecorn Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Victoria pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Jesus Gutierrez. Mike Fields closed it out for Victoria, earning his 4th save. The loss lowers the San Angelo record to 4-16.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Matt Pinksen? The 24-year old catcher Pinksen stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put Victoria up, 4-1. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
Gutierrez called the win "a team effort."
