Gnats Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
Nichols pitcher Dave Tovar did his part in helping his team beat the Winfield Warriors, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Earning his 3rd save for Nichols was Alex Ellis. The Gnats, now 8-3, have played some good baseball in the early going.

A crucial at-bat came with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when left fielder Mike Kubena hit a sacrifice fly. The Gnats went on to win.

"We'll savor this win," Kubena told the Nichols Citizen, "then get ready for the next game."
