Tooze Raps Beaumont for 5 Hits
Boston center fielder Rich Tooze could do no wrong in his team's 11-5 win over the Drillers, as he collected 5 hits.

"Things were in his favor in every one of his at-bats," Drillers skipper Takuzo Kaneshiro said to the press corps after the game. "He got hitters' counts."

Tooze agreed, saying that getting ahead early in the counts was "the key" to his game.

"Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit," he said. "You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."

Rich Tooze singled in the 1st, hit an RBI triple in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

Tooze is swinging at a .310 pace on the year with 16 home runs, 92 RBIs and 79 runs scored. He has played in 141 games.
