Victory Over Black Bears Takes Cincinnati to 89-58
|
Alex Gonsalez left his imprint on the 9-4 Cincinnati win against the Fraser Valley Black Bears. Gonsalez, who is tied for 8th in the TAA with a .527 slugging percentage, went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Cincinnati reliever Alfonso Espinoza picked up the win to move to 5-7. Don Tufts suffered the loss. The first-place Snaps, at 89-58, now lead their division by 7½ games.
Ruben Calvan hit a 2-run triple off Ron Mabie in the top of the seventh, which put the Snaps in front, 6-4. Calvan had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 5.
"This was a good win for us," said Gonsalez. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
