The performance of Vinny Alers proved critical in helping Walnut Creek beat Montreal, 8-5. The Warriors center fielder was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Earning his 2nd save for Walnut Creek was Darren Rogers. At 18-19, the Warriors find themselves in 4th place in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division.

The Mounties had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Warriors going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old first baseman Pablo Cordova came to the plate. Cordova hit a 2-run home run on a full count fastball from Montreal hurler Kyle Peacock. It was Cordova's 4th home run of the year.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Alers said.
