Cornhuskers Squelch Storm Troopers Offense in Shutout Win
|
Spirited fans at The Clone Army greeted the San Antonio Storm Troopers for their clash with the DeKalb Cornhuskers.
San Antonio got a terrific performance from pitcher Jim Shaffner, but it wasn't enough to beat the DeKalb Cornhuskers. DeKalb won the The Clone Army contest, 5-0. Shaffner was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs. The first-place Cornhuskers, at 62-42, now lead their division by 5 games.
DeKalb took a 5-0 lead on Dakota Medwid's 5th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Medwid hit in the top of the ninth, left San Antonio pitcher Dave Sheldon shaking his head.
"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Medwid. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
