Beetlecats Stymie Pacifica, Take 3-0 Win
|
The Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats took Pacifica pitcher Kyle Kelly's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Coffee Grinder. The final score had Buzzard's Bay getting past the Shamrocks, 3-0. Kelly went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs, striking out 6. Buzzard's Bay reliever Kichisaburo Hamlin got the win, raising his record to 4-4. Kyle Kelly was tagged with the loss. Cory Rohr nailed down his 11th save.
With runs few and far between, the Beetlecats had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Buzzard's Bay came in the bottom of the third inning, when second baseman Mack Rainville delivered a 2-run double. The double was hit off Kyle Kelly and made the score 2-0, Beetlecats. Rainville was 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Rainville said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
Today's win puts Buzzard's Bay at 43-42, while Pacifica falls to 38-50.
