It was a sensational day at the plate for Luis Velez as he led the charge to a nifty 15-6 win over the Bison. The Jacksonville first baseman was pure misery for the Bighorn pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.

"Velez put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Carlos Esparza, manager for the Bison, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."

Luis Velez singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jeff Lee in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, walked in the 5th, doubled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

Currently Velez is batting .358 with 54 hits and 6 home runs. He has knocked in 20 runs and scored 33 times.
