Fraser Valley 6-3 Losers to Pipe Fitters
|
The 6-3 Niagara Falls win over Fraser Valley was due largely to Jason McLane. The Pipe Fitters left fielder went 3 for 3 with a triple, 2 doubles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Kyle Carothers got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 1. Pete Wood earned the save for Niagara Falls, his 7th.
With Niagara Falls leading 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth, McLane hit a cutter from Justin Hornick for a run-scoring double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Pipe Fitters ahead, 5-3.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said McLane.
The win brings the Pipe Fitters to 11-19, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
