Riding the 2-hit performance of the 26-year old center fielder Jason Franzoni, the Astoria Argonauts defeated the Joplin Fireballs, 15-2. Jason Evans picked up the win, improving his season record to 10-12. He struck out 8 in 8.1 innings.

Bill Epperson had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the fourth for Astoria. With the bases loaded and the Argonauts leading 2-1, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

Joplin manager Daniel Petro called the blowout loss "a real stinker."

Astoria raised its record to 77-74 with the win.
