Coal Miners Get Clonked by Argonauts, 3-2
|
Jerry Fey pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Antioch Coal Miners, despite Fey's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Astoria Argonauts at Golden Fleece Park. Astoria reliever Kyle Thomas picked up the win, while Jerry Fey took the loss for Antioch. Allen Justice got the save, his 22nd in 27 chances.
Ashton Clow, who is tied for 9th in the TAAA in bases on balls with 62, took Antioch hurler Jerry Fey deep in the bottom of the seventh. His solo home run put the Argonauts on top, 3-2. In all, Clow had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"The Argonauts earned it," said Antioch manager Jordan Hay. "Hats off to them."
The Argonauts improved their record to 61-67 with the win over Antioch.
