Victory Over Caterpillars Takes Calgary to 76-50
|
Calgary starter Kody Kempa put a stranglehold on the Peoria offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Kodiaks to a 5-1 win. Kempa, the winner, moves to 12-7. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 2 walks. Aaron White finished the game for Calgary and earned his 2nd save.
The Kodiaks got an important contribution from second baseman Angus Bonscott, who in the top of the third knocked a 1-2 cutter into center for a 2-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Kodiaks ahead, 2-1.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Calgary manager Stu Yarbrough.
Calgary has now won 4 games in a row.
