A jubilant Bobby Savoy joined the postgame press conference at McClure Field today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Forest Acres Falcons pitching staff he had just vanquished.

"It may not have looked like it," said the Cairo Sphinx third baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."

That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led the Sphinx to a 5-4 win.

"He made it look easy," said Vic Eassson, manager of the Falcons. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."

Bobby Savoy doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

In his stats this season, Savoy has posted a batting average of .406 with 185 hits in 456 at-bats, 21 home runs and 89 RBIs. He has also scored 96 runs, walked 58 times and compiled a .470 OBP.
