El Paso Bats Go Silent in 1-0 Loss
|
The Walnut Creek Warriors, behind a great outing from Marcel Antoine defeated the El Paso Mavericks, 1-0, at The Corral. Antoine, now 2-1, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing no runs. The triumph makes Walnut Creek 16-7, as the team begins another long trek toward the playoffs in 2063.
An important at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning with two out. With a runner on 1st and the Mavericks trailing 1-0, the outcome hung in the balance. With a first pitch, Russ Gilleo threw Steve Montgomery a fastball and Montgomery hit a double.
