Canadians Edge Past Fireballs, 4-3
|
The Joplin Fireballs got a superb performance from pitcher Aaron Farmer. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Vancouver. The Canadians won the game, 4-3. In spite of the loss, Farmer was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Vancouver reliever Preston Williams was credited with the win, to go to 4-4. Tsugunao Carroll took the loss for Joplin. The Fireballs have now dropped 6 straight.
It could have been a different outcome for Vancouver, had it not been for Leonardo Montano, the 22-year old catcher . Montano contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the 18th inning to put Vancouver up, 4-3.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Montano said.
