The Cairo Sphinx turned back the Candiac Redbirds, 12-11, at Municipal Stadium. Scott McFarland was named player of the game for his fine performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Cairo reliever Mike Huerta picked up the win to move to 1-0. Adam Buckway suffered the loss.
