Privateers Lose at Home, 5-2, to Albuquerque
Spirited fans greeted the Memphis Privateers for their clash with the Albuquerque Cacti.

Albuquerque parlayed a decent outing from starter Sam Godfrey into a solid win over the Memphis Privateers. The final score was 5-2. The winning pitcher was Godfrey, now 2-5. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4.

Albuquerque used a clutch at-bat from Bill Pride to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cacti ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"This team is real focused right now," said Albuquerque manager Randy Haynes.

The first-place Cacti have a one-game lead in their division.
