Earthquakes Lose, 5-2, in 17
|
Walnut Creek got a strong outing from Matt White as the Warriors defeated the San Francisco Earthquakes, 5-2, at Golden Gate Park. Walnut Creek reliever Mike Traver picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Steven Shiplack took the loss. The win gives Walnut Creek a record of 2-0.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Kevin McArdle? The two-time All-Star McArdle stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the 17th inning to put Walnut Creek up, 5-2. For the game, he was 3 for 6, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"We did enough to win," said McArdle.
