Thunder Bay got a terrific performance from pitcher Brett Johnson, but it wasn't enough to beat the Forest Acres Falcons. Forest Acres won the Edgbaston contest, 6-3. Johnson was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Forest Acres reliever Justin Lindsley picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Juan Marichal Jr. took the loss. George Thomas was credited with the save for Forest Acres, his 2nd of the season.

It could have been a different outcome for Forest Acres, had it not been for Juan Lira, the 29-year old shortstop . Lira contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the tenth inning to put Forest Acres up, 5-3.

"We take it day by day here," said Lira, "and today was a good one for us."

The Black Bears fall to 12-20 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2044 season.
