West Island turned a good effort from starter Manny Domenech into a win over the Havana Stogies at The Humidor. The Jazz won the game, 5-2. Ernesto Herrera earned the save for West Island, his 30th. West Island's record now stands at 87-75, placing them second in the Roberto Clemente League International Division.
West Island used a timely hit from Bill Buntrock to get the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Jazz ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
Buntrock told a West Island Chronicle reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
