Kimaiyo, Moonshiners Too Much for Slice
|
The Asheville Moonshiners used the hitting of right fielder Amezwaru Kimaiyo to subdue the Manhattan Slice, 9-5. For the game, Kimaiyo went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Steven Shiplack earned the save for Asheville, his 27th. Asheville is 66-70 and Manhattan, with the loss, 65-71.
With Asheville leading 3-1 in the top of the third, Kimaiyo hit a 2-run single off Manhattan hurler Elliott Mann. It was the 126th hit of the season for Kimaiyo and put his team ahead, 5-1.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Kimaiyo. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
