The Buffalo Bison besoiled an otherwise fine performance by El Paso catcher Steve Montgomery by beating the Mavericks, 7-3, at Thundering Grounds at Bison Stadium. Montgomery was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The Bison improved their record to 78-50 by beating El Paso.
Cory Starkey had a big grand slam home run for the Bison in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Buffalo leading 3-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from Dave Joseph, the 14th overall pick in the 2057 draft, and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Bison on top, 7-0.
Said El Paso manager Lorenzo Castillo: "They did a lot of things right. We did a lot of things wrong."
