Dallas picked up a win at Metroplex Park, bumping off the Houghton Gremlins, 6-1. Pitcher Wilfredo Velez was a major reason the Texans emerged victorious. With the win, Dallas elevates its record to 2-0.

The Texans got a big at-bat from right fielder Miguel Portugal. For the game, Portugal was 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Dallas a 2-0 lead.

"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Dallas skipper Lester Burrow.
