Bison Take Tight Tilt, 4-3
|
Buffalo beat Maple at Thundering Grounds at Bison Stadium, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to right fielder Jonathan Schimmel. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Jim Wallace, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 9. His record now stands at 9-13. Mike Waldrup earned his 30th save in 35 chances.
With Buffalo trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Schimmel hit a changeup from Lance Kaeser for a 2-run home run. It was his 25th home run of the season and put the Bison ahead, 2-1.
Schimmel called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
At 71-70, the Bison find themselves in third place in the Thurman Munson League East Division.
